Measuring and understanding
I work as a pulmonary function analyst. Physiology, measurements, medical technology and research are part of my professional world. A number alone never tells the whole story: measurement quality, relationships and interpretation make the difference.
On PFTinfo.nl, I write about pulmonary function testing and developments in AI. That practice is one starting point for the questions I explore here.
A visual background
I also make digital art. My work began with photography and developed into photo art, digital painting, 3D, generative techniques and AI. Making images is another form of inquiry: trying, comparing, adjusting and looking again.
My visual work lives on arjenroos.com and arjenroos.nl.
From using to building
My interest in AI began with its applications and became increasingly technical. I started running models locally, exploring inference, building agents and investigating how the parts of an AI system work together.
I learn by building systems, testing them and following the questions that emerge.
Agents for my own projects
I have built my own AI agents for ARtBase and Diet Coach. ARtBase is my local-first hub for connecting artworks, source files and publications, with agents built around the needs of my creative workflow. Diet Coach applies personal context and persistent knowledge to everyday nutrition support.
Within ARtBase, I am also exploring OAD: an open document format for future image editing, designed to preserve editable structure and support AI throughout the document. Diet Coach is planned for an open-source release, with its project page on this site becoming the public entry point.
These practical projects also connect to my concept papers about machine-facing agent architecture and user-delegated AI compute.
Why this website?
This is where I bring projects, publications and research notes together. A place to document choices and findings, with a clear distinction between an idea, a working experiment and a demonstrated result.
